We want our packaging to have a positive impact on people and the planet which is why we are on a mission to develop and deliver packaging that delights our consumers, protects our products and does not pollute the environment.

As part of this, we are determined to make all our packaging recyclable by 2025. Right now over 90% of our total packaging (both plastic and non-plastic) is designed to be recyclable. In New Zealand, we work with the Packaging Forum and are members of the Soft Plastics Recycling Scheme. This means that our packaging is being collected at select stores across the country and being turned into new products such as fence posts and ducting.

We will continue to look for ways to optimise our packaging and eliminate unnecessary waste.

Plastic is a highly efficient material which helps us develop packaging that provides the right levels of security, quality, product protection, and preservation while enabling us to meet our packaging elimination goals. But this doesn’t stop us from innovating.

We are also testing new packaging made from 100% recycled paper. The Cadbury Energy paper packaging trial is the first time we have used a paper material that doesn’t include laminates, foils or plastics for fully-sealed flow-wrap packaging. This was a world-first conducted only in New Zealand!
